We have been asked how schools in other areas are funding the JA BizTown school fees. To help answer that question, here are some creative solutions weve heard from other teachers and administrators.
Ø Budget the fees into the districts budget.
Ø Budget the fees into the schools budget.
Ø Ask the PTO/PTA to sponsor the fees.
Ø 5th grade students host a fundraising event(s). (Ex: School Dance, Penny Drive, etc.)
Ø Charge the students $5 -$10 each to cover a portion of the fees.
Ø Apply for a grant, especially a School to Work grant.
Ø Use Education Edge funds.
Ø Beginning with the first grade, have each grade host an annual fundraiser. Each year the money goes into a savings account. By the time the students reach 5th grade, there should be enough money in the account to pay for the fees.
Ø Participate in a Junior Achievement Bowl-a-Thon fundraiser to earmark funds for your school.
Ø Solicit a Corporate Partner to sponsor all or a portion of the schools fees.
Ø Use money available to your school under Title V grants, Part D, Subpart 3 Local Innovative Education Programs. (We have additional information available upon request.)
Ø Use money available to qualified schools under one of these other Federal programs: Title 1, Part A Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged; Title II, Part A Preparing, Training and Recruiting High Quality Teachers and Principals; Title II, Part D Enhancing Education Through Technology; Title V, Part B, Subpart 1 Public Charter Schools (helps foster development of public charter schools); Title V, Part C Magnet Schools (schools with specialized curricula to help prevent minority group isolation).
