Capitalism with Conscience offers students a chance to learn from top executives
the importance of ethics and integrity in business and in life.
What is Capitalism with Conscience?
An opportunity to have top executives and business decision makers act as role models for high school students by conveying that success in business – and life – comes through ethical behavior and honest dealing with others.
Each presentation lasts only one class period
JA provides a guidebook to assist the teacher in preparing for the executive visit. This guidebook includes:
- Pre-visit suggestions, including an ethics self-assessment for students,
- Activities for the day of the visit,
- Post-visit follow-ups, and
- A brief ethics history and vocabulary
How does Capitalism with Conscience work?
Teachers sign up to request presenters and indicate preferred times for classroom visits
Students prepare in advance for each executive’s visit through teacher-presented materials
Teachers and executives will be paired prior to the event in order to facilitate advance communication between parties
Where does Capitalism with Conscience take place?
High school classrooms around Middle Tennessee
Teachers may sign up to have executives speak to more than one of their classrooms; JA will make every effort to fill all requests for volunteers
This is a classroom discussion rather than an assembly so that students can truly interact with their speaker, asking real questions and discussing real situations
When does Capitalism with Conscience take place?
During a time that works for you during the Spring Semester of 2007
At the conclusion of the Capitalism with Conscience event, each teacher should complete the program evaluation form provided with the guidebook to provide JA with feedback about the event
