EVENT DESCRIPTION
The Stock Market Challenge™ is an exciting, high-tech evening of trading fictitious stocks to achieve the highest possible net worth on the JA stock exchange. Open to adult teams (4 per team) from all walks of life, the Challenge offers a unique opportunity to experience the fast-paced, exciting atmosphere of two months on Wall Street compressed into two hours, while competing for prizes. Each team's entry fee goes to fund JA's economic education programs in Middle Tennessee schools — a real investment in the lives of area children!

At the event, teams check in, socialize and enjoy food and beverages. Trading commences after the emcee gives a brief explanation of rules and introduces the sponsors. Participants roam the trading floor taking buy-sell orders on hand-held computers. The orders are wirelessly sent to the computer database where they are tracked and team results and rankings are displayed in real time on a large screen. Two other screens identify the current trading day, stock pricing, and stock performance. The atmosphere is very much like a real trading floor; lots of noise and enthusiasm enhanced by state-of-the-art computer technology and large projection screens.
The Stock Market Challenge™ is powered by a software system that simulates the stock market and allows the participating teams to trade shares, building their net worth. Each team of four players starts with a credit of $500,000. When trading begins it's BUY, SELL, BUY, SELL . . . well you get the idea.
When the opening bell sounds, trading begins! For 40 minutes, you will be watching, buying, and selling at a breathtaking pace, in an atmosphere much like a real trading floor: noisy, enthusiastic, and enhanced by state-of-the art computer technology.
At the end of the first 40-minute session, you'll have a welcome 10-minute breather, then you'll be right back into the thick of trading for another 40 minutes.
You'll be ready for it when that Final bell rings! After that, winners are announced, and prizes are awarded.
