Why the JA Pre- & Post Tests??

Help track students' classroom performance after JA. Show positive changes in students' attitudes about school. Help JA secure funding from major donors.
Show the proof is in our programs.

Dear Volunteer,

Thank you so much for your participation with Junior Achievement; you are an integral part of the success of JA and the many students you inspire, teach, and encourage.  Pre-/Post-Test data to establish quantitative and qualitative data is critical to demonstrating the effectiveness of JA Programs.  ou are such an important part of this study and we appreciate your help in propelling this endeavor. To help you, we’ve created a check list to guide you through distribution and collection of the Pre-/Post-Tests. It is very important that the students fill out all information on these tests.

Before your Class
1. Please do not use the Pre-/Post-Test included in your JA kit. (These are outdated.) Instead, download the most current version of the Pre-/Post-Tests here.

2. Select the program that you are teaching. Print twice as many tests as there are students in your class. You will use half of these for the Pre-Test and the other half for the Post-Test. Put them in your JA kit so you will have on hand when needed.

During your Class
3. When you visit the class for the first time, distribute the test to the students prior to beginning your first lesson. You may also rely on the teacher to administer.
Please be sure to check that the student has filled in the Student Information section with the 1) the first three letters of his/her last name, 2) the month, day, and year of birth, 3) current grade, and 4) the student's previous experience with JA
and 5) Pre-/Post-Test.

4. Have the students complete all the questions, stopping before the box labeled "Post Test Only."

5. Collect tests. Keep the tests with the rest of your JA materials.

6. Teach your JA sessions as instructed in the Volunteer Guidebook.

7.
Upon completion of your last session, allow 10 minutes for the students to complete the Post-Test. Again, they will need to fill out all of the Student Information and Knowledge QuestionsAdditionally, they will need to fill out the attitudinal section that’s marked as “Post-Test Only”. Collect the Post-Tests.

After your Class
8. Combine Post-Tests with Pre-Tests and return to JA. You may grade the tests if you'd like (the answer keys can be found here) but grading is not required. Be sure that you’ve included the name of the school, teacher, and volunteer. You may mail them, drop them by our office with your extra JA kit materials or leave them with your Company's JA Representative if you have one.
All volunteers who correctly submit their pre- and post-tests this year will qualify for a gift card drawing at the end of each semester.

Mail both the pre- and post-tests to:
